Pickleball in Queensland - connecting communities through a sport for life!

There are a range of options when it comes to finding a place to play Pickleball.  These include:

  • Incorporated Clubs:  Traditional sporting club that offers Pickleball facilities
  • Community Player Groups:  Group of Pickleball players that organise regular playing times
  • Affiliated Businesses:  Commercial businesses offering Pickleball

Affiliation brings with it many benefits, the list of which will only grow as PAQ establishes its presence.  There are options for corporate affiliation, association affiliation, and individual membership. BEENLEIGH TENNIS & PICKLEBALL CLUB (BTPC)

The first venue with publicly available, purpose built pickleball courts, Beenleigh welcomes players of all skill levels.  Host for the 2020 Queensland Pickleball Championships, this club hopes to grow the sport in the local region.  Contact them through info@beenleightenniscentre.com.au or call them on 07 3807 5836.

BRIBIE ISLAND PICKLEBALL CLUB (BIPC)

Many of the original pickleball players of Queensland are based on Bribie Island.  They started their club in 2018 and have been focussed on supporting players across the region.  It is a pleasure to welcome this club to the Pickleball Queensland family.  The have established permanent courts and have regular social playing sessions.  Contact them via their facebook site.

CAIRNS PICKLEBALL CLUB

Recognised as one of the first centres to have established pickleball in Australia the Cairns pickleball players have been growing in numbers since 2017, if nor earlier.  While members have been part of PAQ since its inception it is now great to be able to have them on as an official part of our growing organisation as a formally affiliated club.  Regular playing occurs weekly so watch this space as more details come available.

CARDWELL & DISTRICT PICKLEBALL CLUB (CDPC)

The new club on the block but with one of the founding players of Australian pickleball, Cardwell & Districts Pickleball Club is a great place to go to discover this sport.  Very welcoming and keen to develop pickleball in Far North Queensland, check out their facebook page for further details.

EAST COAST PICKLEBALL (ECP)

East Coast Pickleball has just affiliated and is keen to get as many people onto court as possible.  Presently based on the Gold Coast (Hope Island, Activa Way), ECP offers fixtures and coaching services as well as social sessions.  Watch this space as their presence grows and contact them through their facebook page.

FRASER COAST PICKLEBALL (FCP)

Fraser Coast Pickleball has just affiliated and is keen to get as many people onto court as possible.  Based in Hervey Bay, FCP is beginning to establish a presence in the region and looks forward to hosting social playing sessions, competitive events, coaching opportunities and regional tournaments.  Watch this space as their presence grows and email Brendan with any questions.

GOLD COAST PICKLEBALL ASSOCIATION (GCPA)

GCPA is the largest Pickleball association in Queensland and provides introductory sessions for beginners as well as playing sessions catering for all skill levels. They are constantly on the lookout for new venues to support the ever-growing interest and numbers. Currently they offer over 20 playing sessions weekly across 4 different venues including their new headquarters at Currumbin - The Gold Coast Pickleball Community Centre - Home of the GCPA - with 8 purpose built Pickleball courts offering private bookings outside of regular session times.

SUNSHINE COAST PICKLEBALL CLUB (SCPC)

SOUTHERN DOWNS PICKLEBALL ASSOCIATION (SDPA)

Southern Downs Pickleball Association was one of the first established pickleball associations in Queensland.  Small but committed they have secured access to both indoor and outdoor playing sites and are focussed on providing an activity for the community which is low cost and focusses on family. Always represented in tournaments and events SDPA welcome players of all ages and skill levels.

PICKLEBALL TOWNSVILLE (PT)

The passion for pickleball has hit Townsville.  Head to the Tennis Townsville Court s10 and 11, to check out the action.  The Tennis Townsville centre is at 20 Burke St North Ward (Corner of Paxton St & Burke St) 4810 Townsville, QLD, Australia.  Get in touch with Kay or Michelle and they will guide you to a session to help you get started.  Very welcoming crowd, remeber to pop in for a hit on your travels up the coast.  Contact them through their Facebook page.

TULLY MISSION BEACH PICKLEBALL INC  (TMBP)

PAQ's first affiliate from the far north, TMBP are keen to get things moving after the COVID break to the game.  They are a dedicated group of tennis converts who initially saw this as an alternate to tennis on rainy days but now are addicted and keen to help grow the sport in FNQ.

YEPPOON PICKLEBALL (YP)

Yeppoon Tennis club is the centre for all things pickleball in Yeppoon.  Quick to realise the passion people have for this sport Yeppoon have been running playing sessions since late 2019.  A very proactive member of PAQ they are now celebrating the establishment of 8 purpose built pickleball courts and looking forward to hosting their first tournament.  Make sure you drop in for a hit or a drill session on your travels through the Capricorn Coast.

OTHER NON-AFFILIATED PLAYING VENUES

PAQ recommend a great variety of other venues and clubs providing pickleball opportunities throughout the state offering social playing sessions for complete beginners through to advanced players.  Most clubs and venues provide paddles and balls to get you started and often offer instruction to support skill and knowledge development.  It is advised that where possible you attend an introductory session to understand the basics.  Some venues also offer pickleball coaching and drill sessions.
