Pickleball Association of Queensland

PAQ has been established to support the development and growth of pickleball across Queensland. They also support the PAA vision of establishing pickleball as a nationally recognised sport by Sport Australia.

E - Evolve: Navigating the evolving pickleball landscape including aligning with national standards to help achieve State Sporting Organisation status and advocating for pickleball's inclusion in major sporting events. Strengthening governance, fostering an inclusive environment, and preparing for a unified model with Pickleball Australia, to ensure long-term sustainability. Exploring and developing new commercial opportunities and proactively addressing the changing needs of members.

P - PLACE: To expand access and participation in pickleball, with a focus on increasing the availability of playing facilities. This includes advocating to Local Governments for the creation of new pickleball courts, exploring the reuse or repurposing of existing spaces, and actively supporting clubs in their efforts to secure access to local government facilities. Actively facilitating collaboration between tennis clubs, schools, and the wider pickleball community to bridge any existing gaps and foster a more inclusive and interconnected playing environment.

I - INTERACT: Enhancing the overall player experience by establishing consistent quality standards for affiliated tournaments, attracting long-term sponsorships, and advocating for the inclusion of pickleball in the school curriculum. To better serve its members and affiliated clubs with a dedicated support plan and actively support Pickleball Australia in expanding the accessibility of training programs and pathways for coaches, referees, volunteers, and administrators.

C - COMMUNICATE: Providing a central hub for pickleball in Queensland, with a user-friendly online platform that provides easy access to playing opportunities, resources, and tournament information. Implementing a comprehensive marketing strategy to support clubs and venues in their applications for council and state-level funding. Prioritising volunteer engagement and development along with promoting player improvement through coaching and competition.
