Committee Members

President

Adrian Gray

Adrian started his pickleball journey in Yeppoon but has since moved to Shailer Park. He has refereed several sports, including football (soccer) and is a level 2 pickleball referee. As a qulaalified IPTPA Pickleball Coach, he works with beginner and intermediate players. He also runs the social sessions at Springfield.

Secretary

Michelle Jones

Michelle is from the tropical north and has been playing pickleball for two years, after a long 'career' as a tennis player and volunteer coach. After learning to play this great sport on Bribie Island, she brought the game to Townsville and the playing base has grown substiantially across the region. Michelle values the family and community atmosphere that pickleball creates between players and hopes to grow the game in the north.

Treasurer

Jodie Dunstan

Jodie is an accomplished professional with a proven track record when it comes to developing growth strategies for business. With a diverse background across the trifecta of accounting, technology and marketing, Jodie has over 10 years' experience in senior executive positions in addition to non-executive and board roles. Passionate about bringing communities together, Jodie is a huge advocate for pickleball and believes there is no other sport like it when it comes to uniting people from all walks of life.

Chris Hook

Chris is originally from the United States, but is also a proud holder of his Australia passport as well. He first came to Sydney in 2009 for 10 years and is now back in Brisbane with his wife. Chris started playing pickleball just over a year ago and is now addicted to the game. Retired from a 30 year career in IT, he plays heaps of pickleball (albeit not well) and is happy to be working with PAQ to introduce more people to the game and the even better community that surrounds it.

Toni Sarten

Toni has been playing pickleball for 2.5 years. Without a sporting background, playing pickleball did not come naturally to her. When Toni started playing, she was struggling to get a ball over the net but has worked hard to now be proudly playing at an intermediate level. With a paddle and a dream, Toni's passion is in Advocacy, Tournaments, Community Fundraising and spending time teaching new players to play and love pickleball as much as she does. Toni has joined PAQ committee in 2022/2023 with intention to be involved in tournaments and advocate beginners. Toni will oversee Club Support in Southern Queensland and will be a part of the Queensland Tournaments Committee.

Mark Stokes

Mark is from Brisbane and has been playing pickleball for two years. He likes that the game can be played by all ages, at various skill levels and as competitively or as socially as you want. He would like to get more people playing regularly so they can get moving and be part of a growing community.

Wayne Lee

Wayne an ex squash player, is from the Gold Coast and learnt to play pickleball while living in the US where he captained a private pickleball club. After returning to Australia in recent years he developed a fledgling pickleball venue in Sydney to the point where it is now recognised as one of the most popular in Australia. Wayne has experience in assisting new venues to become part of the pickleball community and is also a certified pickleball coach. Wayne is well aware of the ever increasing popularity of the sport and is commited to further develop the game in Queensland across all demographics.

Geordie Bauer

Geordie is from the Wide Bay Area of Bundaberg and has been playing pickleball for 9 months. He has been a tennis purist for the last 28 years but due to injury decided to give pickleball a go. One session and he was hooked. Geordie loves the non-toxic environment, social banter and all inclusiveness that is pickleball. Geordie hopes to help PAQ and its members keep the positive and all inclusive energy and also grow the game through the Education Queensland System.

Bruce Winther

Bruce has been playing Pickleball for around 5 years. He enjoys both the competitive and social aspects of the game. A retired teacher, Bruce finds plenty of time to play 3 or 4 times a week and loves to play tournaments. He recently played in the Italian Open which was a highlight. Bruce is a past PAQ President and Secretary and is delighted with the amazing growth that our sport has achieved in such a short time.

Pam Mitchell

Pam has played pickleball on and off for the last 4 years. She is enthusiastic about developing her skills but they are still in the relatively early stages. Life seems to get in the way! She has raised awareness of pickleball in all the countries she has visited in the last few years as well as different Australia states and Territories. The game is certainly growing in her area of the Gold Coast. She appreciates the wonderful friends she has met over the time and looks forward to making many more.
