Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
What is the Queensland Pickleball Tour?
It’s a statewide series of events where pickleball players of all ages and skill levels come together to play, compete, and experience the thrill of competition. For participants, it’s not just the fun of playing; they also get to watch and cheer on professional players, learn new skills, connect with fellow enthusiasts, and enjoy getting active - possibly even walking away with a medal or two.
Who can play in the tour events?
The tournaments welcome players of all ages and skill levels. Age divisions include 19+, 35+, 50+, 60+, 70+ and Open. Skill categories include < 3.49, 3.5-3.99, and 4.0+. Most events offer doubles, mixed doubles, and singles matches, with some also including skinny singles or team events.
Why play in the tour?
Organised by the Pickleball Association Queensland, these are sanctioned events, professionally managed, and provide an ideal opportunity for players to learn, improve, and compete across the state. Supported strongly by both players and sponsors, they create a competitive yet inclusive environment that helps participants enhance their skills.
How do I register?
Registration is done throughpickleballtournaments.com
To sign in, you’ll need to be a member of your state association. Once logged in, you can search for the QPT event, choose your division, and pay the entry fee.
You can also indicate if you already have a playing partner or would like to be flagged as needing one – this allows other unpaired players to contact you as a potential partner.
How do I choose the right division?
Divisions are based on DUPR rankings, with every tournament offering at least the following skill levels: <3.49, 3.5 – 3.99, and 4.0+. Some events also include a division for players rated <2.99. In Doubles, teams must register at the skill level of the higher-rated partner. If you are unsure, please contact PAQ or speak to your local club or coach for advice.
How do I prepare for a tournament?
- Make sure you have checked the dates and location to arrange travel and accommodation early (many players like to house share for the weekend or travel together).
- Keep an eye on your email in the days leading up to the event so you know your start times.
- Arrive early to find a park, sign in, and visit the sponsors' stands for special offers and opportunities to try
new products/services.
- Take plenty of sunblock, a hat, sunglasses, water bottles, electrolytes, and your smile to enjoy the event. You may also wish to take a camp chair to take a break between games.
